Universal House Blessing
This is a traditional cleansing and blessing. It is spiritual in nature and includes prayers, however it is non-denominational.
This is a nice ceremony for both spiritual couples as well as interfaith couples.
With this ceremony we will use sage, candle and lavender oil.
For those of you that find the smoke from burning sage or frankincense aggravating I have an excellent alternative! I have a beautiful House Blessing Spray. This mist has a pleasing lemon/citrus scent, and contains the oil and the plant of White Sage, Lavender, Bergamot, and Holy Water.
As the officiant says the prayers she will smudge the room with sage (or if you prefer use I can use my House Blessing Spray), sprinkle woly water and anoints the doorways.
Begin with the outside, Officiant may walk to the four corners of the home or the property line and as she walks up the walkway to the door will sprinkle holy water and say :
Officiant:
God of love we dedicate this property unto you and we ask that your Holy Spirit would continually flow over and perpetually bless this property. May your warrior angels take a stance against darkness in this home and may they make a hedge of projection around this home.

We gather inside the front door. The door or a window should be left open a crack so that the negative energy has a way to leave.
Greeting:
Officiant:
Peace to this house and to all who enter here. Amen
Your home is a sacred place. It is a place where we feel safe, can relax, and be our true selves. You home is where you gather as a family, it is where you are taught your life’s values and ideals. Where you nurture, support and encourage one another. Home is the place where you have organized, decorated..settled. It is a place of tranquility and peace.
Throughout time, in many religions and cultures it has been a tradition to offer prayers of blessings to a home and its inhabitants.Today we gather here to bless this home for (say the names of all the people and pets who will live here).
We will use the traditional elements that support healing, well-being, trust, love and harmony as we ask for blessings from God.
Open prayer/invocation to ask God to be present and bless this home:
Officiant:
Let us begin with a prayer

May the light of God shield this house from harm.
May angles bring their peace here and use this home as a haven of light.
May all grow strong in this place of healing. Amen

Candle lighting:
Officiant:
In lighting this candle we summon love, harmony, peace, and prosperity into this home. We decree that this home is now shielded from harm, illness, or misfortune.
Officiant lights sage from the candle and in a clockwise motion gently wave the smoke into the air, concentrating on the corners, as they tend to accumulate stagnant energy.
*As we enter each space the officiant will burn the sage in a clockwise motion gently waving the smoke into the air. Then will anoint above the door with the oil and say “We call out to you, Holy Spirit. Come now and fill this place with the light of your love”
Entrance way:
Officiant:
Bless this house as we come and go.
May the strength of its walls provide safety, keeping strife and trouble outside, but may the door always be open wide to welcome friends and family. May this home be a place of rest and comfort, filled with love and peace and an abundance of goodwill.
