Elements used in a House Blessing
Preparation: It is a good idea to clean and try to de-clutter your home. Get rid of all garbage and waste. Try to create a peaceful feeling in all rooms. It is advised to remove any items that are toxic and vexations to the spirit such as illegal drugs, pornography and other negative items etc.
During your house blessing, it is important to include the names of all the people who live in the home, as well as your pets.
You may want to hang a cross or other religious or spiritual symbol at the entrance of your home as part of the ceremony.
Items I use for blessing your home:
Holy Water with Sea Salt: This is used for purification and to bring lives into balance.
Lavender Oil: (Used in my Universal Ceremony) Lavender is universal oil with many different applications. Lavender has been named as one of the most useful of the essences for the relief of anxiety and stress.
Blessed Anointing oil: (For ceremonies in the name of Jesus Christ) this is blessed olive oil, the same used during a traditional baptism.
Candle: We will use a pink pillar candle as our source candle. Pink brings the energy of love and kindness.
House Blessing Spray: This spray contains the oil and the plant of White Sage, Lavender, Bergamot, and Holy Water. This mist is an excellent alternative to burning sage or frankincense, since the smoke can be aggravating to some people and also we don’t have to worry about ashes. The spray has a pleasing lemon/citrus scent.
Sage: (usually only used in my universal house blessing unless requested) Sage is held sacred by many cultures especially Native Americas, because of its purifying energies. It heals by restoring balance and cleanses the area of negative spirits and impurities.
Bergamot Oil: This oil is in my house blessing spray. With its mild fruity aroma Bergamot is uplifting and relaxing oil. It is widely used in Italy for medicinal as well as emotional and spiritual healing. One of its many uses is as an anti-anxiety / anti-depressant. This oil helps to create a feeling of joy, freshness and energy.

Frankincense (Usually only used in religious ceremonies unless requested)
This incense is known for its healing elements for upper respiratory ailments, tension and stress. When it used in aromatherapy it has shown to have the ability to slow down the breathing and deepen the breaths you take, so it is excellent to use during prayer and meditation. This is the incense most commonly used by Catholic Priests.
