HOME is a sacred place. A place where we feel safe, can relax, and be our true selves.
Yet even the happiest of homes will accumulate negative energies over time, therefore it is important to clear this energy and return balance to your home.
When you invite good energy and God’s blessings into your home, you fill it with love. And it will become a space of love, harmony, health, and prosperity, and thus affect your daily life with this energy.
Throughout the world many religions and cultures hold house blessings. They are common amongst Christians, as well as Native Americans, Gaelic, Irish, Pagan, and many more.
A blessing can be done prior to moving into a new home in order to ensure a positive start to life in your new home. It can be done after the completion of a construction project as well.
A blessing may be needed to restore harmony after a traumatic event such as death, divorce or other turmoil.
A house blessing is also beneficial if you would like to ensure good energy for selling your home, having an important event in your home such as a wedding, baby shower or bringing home your new baby. I have even been asked to do a house blessing before a large family gathering.
In the Catholic religion house blessings are traditionally done on the Epiphany, which is January 6th. This is the day the 3 Magi (Kings) arrived to Jesus. One of their gifts was the incense frankincense. Frankincense has healing elements for upper respiratory ailments, tension and stress. When it used in aromatherapy it has shown to have the ability to slow down the breathing and deepen the breaths you take, so it is excellent to use during prayer and meditation. This is the incense most commonly used by Catholic Priests.
Other cultures have space cleanings or house blessings at any time, but the beginning of a new calendar year is the most popular time. The full moon or on the equinox can be popular as well.
Many people have a house blessing once a year to get rid of any negative energy that has built up and invite good energy and God’s blessings into their home.
